PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sediment separation device capable of efficiently separating dredged sediment into foreign matters such as chips or dirt and sediment component such as sand, and a method for separating the dredged sediment.SOLUTION: A sediment separation device 1 includes: a floating body 2 installed on water; a support frame 3 supported on the floating body 2 so as to be vertically movable; vertical driving means 13, 13... vertically moving the support frame 3; a sediment separating container 4 supported by the support frame 3 so that a lower part thereof sinks in water at the lower limit position, and relatively movable with respect to the support frame 3; and vibration generating means 27, 27 for vibrating the sediment separating container 4. The sediment separating container 4 has a net-like sediment transmission part 24 at least in a bottom surface part thereof, and separates dredged sediment mixed with foreign matters put into the sediment separating container 4 into a sediment component and the foreign matters by utilizing a water stream generated by vertical movement of the sediment separating container 4 and vibration of the vibration generating means 27, 27. |
