Class 120(i) In a machine for tearing or opening rags, waste &c., the feed rollers and the bitter roller are mounted in a pair of adjustable brackets 1, one at each side of the machine, the brackets being complementary castings constituting unitary stands in which the feed rollers are slidable vertically and the bitter roller is adjustable horizontally. As shown, the bearings 23 of the bitter roller 22 are bolted through slots 8 to an overhanging part 5 of each bracket 1, and are adjustable by a screw 24 and wingnut 26. The bearings 16 of the feed roller shafts 15 are slideable in a slot 3 and are weighted through a pressure lever 18, link 19 and weighted arm 20, or through spring-operated pressure levers. Each bracket 1 is adjustable on the frame 12 by means of slots 10 and an adjusting screw 13.</p> |
