Provided are an apparatus and a method for controlling an electronic device. The apparatus for controlling the electronic device includes a marker recognizing unit which recognizes a marker of the electronic device and a control unit which communicates with the electronic device based on the marker and controls the electronic device by using a GUI program received from the electronic device.
