[Class 142 (i)] A stop-motion operated from the sand roller when a predetermined length of cloth has been woven comprises a chain 22, Fig. 1, actuated from the sand roller shaft 2 and adapted to trip a lever 14 connected to a known type of stop mechanism. A weight 24 and sleeve 25 axe raised when the chain is driven by a sprocket 23 releasably coupled to the sand roller shaft 2 by means of a ratchet wheel 4 and a spring-pressed pawl 5 pivoted in a carrier block 6 fixed to the shaft, the pawl 5 being releasable by a pin 8 fixed on a large ratchet wheel 7, Fig. 4. When the sleeve 25 strikes an arm 31 the lever 14 is tripped to operate the stop mechanism and a pawl 16 engages the large ratchet wheel 7 to release the ratchet 4 and allow the chain to return to its initial position. The length of cloth woven is determined by the position of the sleeve 25, adjusted by a stop 30 against which is held a guide block 27 fixed to the other end of the chain. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement in which the chain is stated to be endless.</p> |
