A light source of a liquid crystal display apparatus and a backlight unit using the same are provided to reduce thickness of the liquid crystal display apparatus and improve display quality by using a light source having a fluorescence lens. A light source of a liquid crystal display apparatus and a backlight unit using the same comprise a PCB, an LED package(114), the first lens, the second lens, and an air layer(115). The LED packet is formed on the PCB and emits at least one light among red, green, blue and white violet rays. The first lens has a semi-sphere shape. The first lens is formed of a transparent silicon substance which spreads light generated from the LEG package. The second lens includes at least one fluorescent substance among yellow, red, green and blue fluorescent substances. The second lens converts a color of light incident from the first lens. An air layer is formed between the first lens and the second lens. |
