PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hood lock device which shows excellent operability in opening a hood.SOLUTION: A primary latch 20 locks a hood 2 in a fully-closed position. When the primary latch 20 is swung so as to raise a striker 12, the hood 2 is located at a first half-open position (P1). A user inserts his or her finger into a gap formed between a front edge of the hood 2 and a vehicle body, to swing a handle lever 32 of a lock release lever 16 from a lower position to an upper position (U) with a fingertip. A lever-side engaging part 34 swings downward, and engages with a latch-side engaging part 2206 of a secondary latch 22. The latch-side engaging part 2206 is swung from a lock position to a lock release position (l), to allow the hood 2 to swing to the fully-opened position (the striker 12 moving upward). The user raises the hood 2 upward while swinging the handle lever 32 to the upper position (U) with his or her finger, so as to open the hood 2. |
