PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method in which all of plural plies 58 constituting a carcass 40 can be made to contribute to stiffness of a tire 30. ! SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes (1) a process for obtaining a low cover 80 by combining a pair of beads 38, a carcass 40, a belt 42, a pair of strips 48 etc. in a former, (2) a process for putting the low cover 80 into a mold 84, and (3) a process for compressing and heating the low cover 80 in the mold 84. In the process for obtaining the low cover 80, the low cover 80 is formed so that the axial direction distance from one side core 52 to the other side core 52 is larger than the rim width of a rim 32 into which a tire 30 is incorporated. In the process for compressing and heating the low cover 80, the low cover 80 is compressed and heated under a condition that the axial direction distance from one side core 52 to the other side core 52 is larger than the rim width. !
