PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and thin scanning optical device by minimizing a distance between a lid and a ridge line part close to the lid of a folding mirror.SOLUTION: A leaf spring 16 for regulating motion of a folding mirror 20 in a normal direction of a reflection surface 90 of the folding mirror 20 is provided to face one of the reflection surface 90 of the folding mirror 20 and a surface 28 opposite the reflection surface 90, which is closer to a lid 12. A stopper 24 for regulating the motion of the folding mirror 20 in a sub-scanning direction of a light flux of the folding mirror 20 is arranged to face one of the surfaces orthogonal to the sub-scanning direction of the folding mirror 20, which is closer to the lid 12. In a predetermined direction orthogonal to a main scanning direction, the leaf spring 16 and the stopper 24 are arranged in a position farther from the lid 12 than a ridge line part 93 closest to the lid 12 in the ridge line part of the folding mirror 20. |
