<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an animation technique by a talking head.SOLUTION: A method for animation of computer generation of a head includes the steps of: preparing input associated with a voice to be output accompanying movements of lips; dividing the input into series in acoustic units; selecting expression characteristics for a text which is input; converting the series in the acoustic units into a series of image vectors using a statistical model; and outputting the series of image vectors as video so that the mouth of the head moves to simulate a voice related to the input text with a selected expression. Parameters of predetermined kinds of respective probability distributions of the selected expression are represented as the weighted sum of parameters of the same kind, and the series in the acoustic units is converted into the series of image vectors. The weighting in use is dependent on an expression and the parameters are prepared in clusters; and retrieval is carried out so that each cluster includes at least one sub-cluster and one weight is present for each sub-cluster.</p> |
