The invention relates to a flame block assembly (1) and a method for simultaneously flaming four sides of a workpiece (7) using the inline method. The flaming process takes place within a roller bed of a continuous slab casting system over the whole length of the workpiece, which can then be further processed without reworking. The flame block assembly (1) comprises inter alia an upper preheating block (2) having a plurality of ducts (20, 21, 23, 24) for feeding and distributing hot gas, hot oxygen and additional oxygen to outflow openings (15, 16, 26) in order to generate flames (19), wherein the upper preheating block (2) has a two-part form and consists of a base part (8) and an exchangeable upper part (9). The upper part (9) is positioned at a distance from the base part (8) by means of spacer webs (10) and forms a flow duct (13) of rectangular cross-section for hot oxygen. The flow duct (13) is divided into three sections, a Laval-nozzle-shaped flow connection (25) being produced along the through-flow, which accelerates the hot oxygen exiting the flow connection (25) at the outlet openings (26) to supersonic speed. |
