PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-priced engine assist device capable of stably reproducing energy from an accumulator and a work machine loading the engine assist device thereon.SOLUTION: Capacity variable main pumps 7, 8 and a capacity variable assist pump 16 having a motor function and a pump function are directly connected to an engine 6. A return pressure fluid flowing out of fluid pressure accumulators 3a, 9 is supplied to an inlet of the assist pump 16 after the pressure of the fluid is temporarily accumulated by a sub accumulator 18, and the assist pump 16 pressurizes and supplies the fluid to a main accumulator 17. A controller computes and controls an assist pump swash plate angle in accordance with engine load torque and assist start torque or charge start torque set by engine rotating speed setting means, and a pressure accumulated fluid discharged from the main accumulator 17 is guided to the inlet of the assist pump 16 or a pressurized fluid discharged from an outlet of the assist pump 16 is guided to the main accumulator 17. |
