PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a display of an intended color due to a deviation of a scanning timing in an active matrix driving.SOLUTION: At a first step, a reset drive is performed that causes a particle to be moved to one substrate side, and at a second step, a voltage is applied that controls particle concentration of a first particle group having a larger threshold value characteristic, and at a third step, a voltage is applied that controls the particle concentration having a smaller threshold value characteristic. Then, application of the voltage is controlled so that, in a deviation time generated by a deviation of a scanning timing, a potential difference between a common electrode and a pixel electrode upon a step transition is a threshold value or less in a deviation time generated by a deviation of a scanning timing. Or, the application of the voltage is controlled so that, in the potential difference between the common electrode and the pixel electrode upon the step transition, the deviation time generated by the deviation of the scanning timing is the threshold value or less. |
