<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crash box made of a steel sheet, which has a low peak load at the beginning of crash during automobile crash and high impact absorption capability per unit mass of a member, whose manufacturing cost is low, and which has a simple structure.SOLUTION: The crash box made of the steel sheet, which is buckled into a bellows shape and absorbs impact energy when receiving an impact load in the axial-length direction (the longitudinal direction), is constituted of two flange parts made of the steel sheet facing each other in parallel with each other, and a web part made of the steel sheet perpendicular to the flange parts. In the crash box made of the steel sheet, the flange parts and the web part are joined together so that a cross-sectional shape perpendicular to the axial-length direction has an H-shaped cross section. Its buckling strength (YS,×A) as a product of a dynamic yield strength (YS,) of a steel sheet obtained by a tensile test of an equivalent plastic strain velocity 10(/s) and a cross sectional area (A) of the H-shaped cross sectional structure is 220 kN or smaller.</p> |
