The present invention relates to an energy storage system using a microconverter. When a battery charger (30) is not provided, normally, a bi-directional DC-AC converter (10) operates as an AC-DC converter to charge the battery, and during peak loads or power shortages, the bi-directional DC-AC converter (10) operates as a DC-AC converter to supply a stored energy to the load (L) to correspond to the amount of energy required by the load (L). Also, when the battery charger (30) is provided in the energy storage system using a microconverter, normally, the battery charger (30) charges the battery (20), and during peak loads or power shortages, a DC-AC inverter supplies energy stored in the battery to the load (L) to correspond to the amount of energy required by the load (L). According to the present invention, by connecting the bi-directional AC-DC converter to each battery cell, system costs are reduced as a battery management system (BMS) is removed, and the operating efficiency and the reliability are improved. |
