Disclosed is a transparent LCD apparatus having a reduced volume and used by being added to an existing installed interior decoration for commodity display without removal. The disclosed transparent LCD apparatus comprises a liquid crystal panel assembly having a liquid crystal panel having a pair of parallel substrates and a liquid crystal layer formed between the substrates, and a front polarizing film and a rear polarizing film each having a polarizing layer for polarizing incident rays in one direction, adhering to a front surface and a rear surface of the liquid crystal panel respectively, where the front polarizing film and the rear polarizing film adhere at a predetermined polarizing angle to allow the incident light to the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel to pass through the liquid crystal panel and to be released to the front surface of the liquid crystal panel when an electric signal is applied to the liquid crystal layer; and a transparent backlight unit projecting the rays from the rear side to the front side of the liquid crystal panel assembly and having a transparent light guide plate arranged to face the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel assembly and a light source arranged around the light guide plate for projecting the rays to the side of the light guide plate, wherein a display target is arranged at the rear side of the transparent backlight unit. |
