The present invention relates to a system to automatically draw a single line diagram based on a substation configuration description language (SCL) and a method for the same. The system to automatically draw a single line diagram based on an SCL includes: a user input unit; a database which stores substation configuration information including the configuration information of each bay included in the substation, relation information between devices and logical nodes configuring the substation, and point mapping information for each device configuring the substation; and a single line diagram drawing unit which selects a target bay, which is a single line diagram drawing object, and a drawing template, automatically maps each device configuring the target bay to each symbol included in the drawing template based on the configuration information of the target bay, extracts point information mapped to each device configuring the target bay based on the point mapping information, and automatically inputs the extracted point information to a symbol mapped to each device configuring the target bay.
