The present invention relates to an odor occurrence timing predicting device of an air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle and an odor occurrence timing predicting method using the same, and has a purpose for accurately predicting the occurrence timing of a moldy odor and an odor in an evaporator. According to the present invention to accomplish the purpose, an odor occurrence timing predicting device of an air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle comprises: a first and a second temperature sensing units installed on the rear surface of an evaporator, separated from each other at a certain interval, and sensing the temperatures of two certain points on the rear surface of the evaporator; and a control part predicting the occurrence timing of odors in the evaporator depending on variation between the temperatures of the points on the rear surface of the evaporator when an air conditioner is off, wherein the temperatures of the points are input from the first and the second temperature sensing units to the control part, and the air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle has the evaporator installed in the inner path of the air conditioning case thereof and operated to cool the air blown into the interior of the vehicle when the air conditioner is on.
