A machine tool includes a machine bed (11), a processing machine (12, 13) mounted on the machine bed (11) for applying a mechanical processing to a workpiece (W), a covering unit (50) for enclosing a processing station by this processing machine (12), and a shroud support member (6) for supporting the covering unit (50) in non-contact relation with the machine bed (11). The machine tool also includes a loader (2A) capable of travelling along a rail (22), while holding the workpiece (W), and capable of selectively loading and unloading the workpiece (W) relative to the processing machine (12). |
