The present invention relates to a side-type backlight unit in which a light from a light emitting diode light source is induced to be emitted to upper vertical direction through a light guide plate and a prism sheet. The backlight unit comprises: a light guide plate in which a first pattern, which is formed with a predetermined space from a light incidence surface to a light reflex surface direction, and a second pattern, which forms a predetermined space in a vertical direction with the first pattern in a space between the first pattern and has a first inclined surface to the light incidence surface direction and a second inclined surface to the light reflex surface direction, are formed on a lower surface; a LED light source disposed on the light incidence surface side of the light guide plate; and a prism sheet, having a prism pattern on a lower surface, disposed on the upper part of the light guide plate. |
