A meat slicing apparatus (1) and a method of using it is provided. The meat slicing apparatus (1) comprises a rotating meat holder (2), a rod for securing a meat structure, a broiler (26) with at least one heating section (3a,3b,3c), and a cutting means (4) for cutting slices of meat (24) from the rotating meat structure. The slices deposit on the surface of the supporting plate (7) below the cutting means and a remover (5) serves for removing the deposited meat slices from the supporting plate by sweeping at least a circumferential area of the supporting plate during rotation of the meat structure (9). The sweeping area extends from the outer surface (22) of the meat structure towards the periphery (43) of the plate (7), and the remover has a sweeping edge (19) positioned at a predetermined fixed distance to the supporting plate during rotation of the meat structure. A first displacement means (50) is adapted to keep the remover in contact with the meat structure during rotation of the meat structure. A preparation unit serves to form a meat structure of suitable shape and size for being cooked in the apparatus using the method. |
