Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for controlling an open type showcase which can allow a user to use an open type showcase as a refrigerator, a heating cabinet, or a cabinet having combined functions for refrigeration and warming functions according to goods to be displayed, and to individually control shelves when the open type showcase is used as the refrigerator, the heating cabinet, or the cabinet having combined functions for refrigeration and warming. The disclosed apparatus for controlling the open type showcase comprises a refrigerating unit for generating chilly air for refrigeration; heating means for generating a heat source for warming; a function selecting unit for selecting functions for refrigeration or warming or combined functions of refrigeration and warming, and for selecting shelves for individual control of the shelves; another function selecting unit for selecting target shelves for the individual shelf control when the user wants to use a warming function or a function for lunchboxes; a division shelf sensing unit for sensing the combined functions for refrigeration and warming; and a controlling unit for controlling the refrigeration or the warming or the combined functions for refrigeration and warming by operating the refrigerating unit and the heating means according to the selection function of the function selecting units and the sensed result of the division shelves of the division shelf sensing unit. |
