A tip valve comprises a valve body 3 having an internal chamber 8 extending longitudinally there through. An atomising unit 2 is associated with one end of the internal chamber 8. The atomising unit 2 has a swirl plate 2c at a first end which is adjacent the one end of the internal chamber, an atomising orifice 2a at a second end and a conically tapering section 2b which extends between the swirl plate 2c and the atomising orifice 2a. A bobbin valve 4 having an extended pintle 5 formed on an end thereof is slidably mounted in the internal chamber 8 for longitudinal movement along the internal chamber 8 between a closed position in which the bobbin valve 4 engages with the atomising orifice 2a so as to prevent fluid flow there through and an open position in which the bobbin valve 4 is retracted away from the atomising orifice 2a so as to allow fluid flow there through. In the open position of the bobbin valve 4, the whole of the extended pintle 5 is withdrawn completely from at least the conically tapering section 2b of the atomising unit 2. |
