A chamber 2 includes a compression plate 8 and a movable element 10 to compress a malformed juice carton and burst it. There is also an outlet for draining of liquid released. Ideally the movable member is a planar plate 10 which moves linearly due to a pneumatic ram (20, fig 2) acting on a push rod 12. Preferably the moving element has multiple recesses 16 to enclose multiple rails 14 for supporting the carton above the lower chamber wall. The outlet may be a mesh type filter in the lower chamber wall and the compression plate 8 may be the chambers side wall. Multiple chambers could be simultaneously operated by a single push rod 12 and ram. The apparatus can be mounted on lockable wheels (34, fig 3) and a vessel may be provided to collect liquid released. |
