676,170. Electricity supply; depolarizing and discharging batteries. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES PILES ELECTRIQUES C.I.P.E.L. Aug. 24, 1950 [Aug. 30, 1949], No. 20989/50. Class 38 (iv). A D.C. load circuit 4 is supplied from a current rectifier 3 shunted by a battery of primary cells 1 operating as a buffer and which have been subjected to a low depolarizing current for a short period to reduce internal resistance. The depolarizing may be carried out prior to connecting the battery in service, either from a separate source of D.C. or the rectifier itself, but preferably whilst the battery is in circuit by periodically, increasing the output from the rectifier by adjusting resistance 2 for short periods whilst the load is being supplied to provide the depolarizing current. The preferred cell is the Leclanche type with jelly electrolyte. Specifications 226,769, [Class 53] and 676,159, are referred to.
|
