It comprises a ball and socket connection (20) including a ball (30); a base module (40) within which the ball (30) is movably accommodated; a support base (50) to be fixed to the motor vehicle; a shift lever (60) and a selector pin (70) attached to the ball (30); and end of travel means for limiting movement of the shift lever (60) that are formed in the base module (40) or in the releasable bottom cover (47). The base module (40) may have a releasable bottom cover (47) for closing a housing (45) and retaining the ball (30) therein.
