An apparatus 200 for use in controlling flow distribution in a water heating system having a heat leak circuit comprises a pump 240 for assisting water circulation through the system, a first flow path 250 for conveying flow received from a heating device to the pump, a second flow path 252 conveying flow from the pump to a heating circuit, and an outlet 260 for conveying flow from the pump to the heat leak circuit. The apparatus further comprises a pump bypass stage 300 having a first mode of operation in which flow is permitted to enter the outlet to the heat leak circuit inlet by bypassing the pump and a second mode of operation in which flow must pass through the pump to reach the outlet to the heat leak circuit. The outlet to the heat leak circuit may be provided along the bypass flow path. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling flow distribution in a water heating system. |
