The present invention relates to a method for providing additional content information and, more specifically, to a method for providing additional content information and an apparatus for the same, which can divide and provide relevant additional content information according to user information when an image processing device provides a user′s handheld device with various information related to content being currently outputted. To this end, an image processing device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a device communication unit which transmits information to or receives information from one or more pre-registered handheld devices; an image providing unit which outputs content; and a device control unit which extracts the metadata of content being currently outputted by the image providing unit, collects additional content information based on the extracted metadata, and controls the transfer of the collected additional content information to the handheld devices through the device communication unit. |
