A battery retention system for an electronic device, comprising: a door; at least one latch coupled to said door; a base; a cover plate attached to the base; a spring configured to receive the at least one latch; the spring bendably connected to the base by the cover plate and imposing a retention force upon the latch when the system is in a closed configuration; at least one foot proximate the door when the system is in the closed configuration; at least one shaft having an axis substantially parallel to an edge of the door upon which the latch is coupled; and at least one depressible button, coupled to the at least one foot, and connected to the at least one shaft, the at least one depressible button and the at least one foot rotatable about the axis to move the door toward an open configuration via a force sufficient to overcome the retention force and transmittable from the button to the foot upon depression of the button. | ||
