A two piece, two-stage, rechargeable, reusable, reduced-energy mechanically operating cartridge is provided for launching a bullet from a firearm. The cartridge unit is comprised of a primary case (2), a piston sleeve (4), a propellant unit, and a bullet (6). Cartridge includes a piston sleeve (4) and a primary case (2) coupled together via a channel and cog locking/traveling/unlocking system. Upon activation of the cartridge within the chamber of the firearm, the piston sleeve (4) and primary case (2) telescope apart, forcing the firearm's slide or bolt to the rear, a mechanical operation as opposed to a conventional cartridge with gas blow back operations. Spent cartridge is reused by separating the piston sleeve (4) from primary case (2) removing the spent propellant unit, recharging new propellant unit and reloading with bullet (6). |
