1. A system for proactively grouping disparate mail items that are queued to be produced in a processing facility into virtual mailing trays containing virtual groupings of mail items, wherein the system comprises:
(a) means for utilizing a manufacturing completion schedule for grouping the mail items before physical production occurs, wherein said means builds optimal sort schemes for the next time periods for an available sorter based on tray eligibility and print job time and date and (b) means for maximizing profitability by discounting the mail items by applying appropriate discount mailing regulations for grouping the mail items before physical production occurs.
