发明名称 A process for the manufacture of artificial bristles, hairs, threads or the like
摘要
Artificial bristles, hairs, threads or the like are obtained from scrap photographic film, such as cinema film or X-ray film, by softening the film material with a swelling agent, preferably at elevated temperature, and then cutting it into filamentary form. The process is applicable to cellulose acetate or nitrate film. The swelling agent may be a mixture of acetone, amyl acetate, and glacial acetic acid. When clear products are desired, the emulsion layer is removed, e.g. by treatment with hot water or dilute acid and by treatment with rotary brushes, preferably before the film is cut. The filaments or products such as plaited or woven fabrics made from them may be subjected to treatment with a swelling agent, e.g. acetone, in order to remove any roughness from the cut edges of the filaments. The hairs, bristles, or threads may be used in making industrial brushes, or artists' brushes, brooms, filter cloths, screens or stiffening fabrics. They may be mixed with silk, wool, cotton, or other animal or vegetable fibres or yarns.
