#CMT# #/CMT# Preparing composite parts comprises providing a thermoformable polyurethane-hard foam and adhering the thermoformable polyurethane-hard foam with a covering material using an adhesive, preferably a moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive, where the adhesive is cured when contacted with an aqueous alkali metal solution. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is included for the composite parts obtained by the above method. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The composite parts are useful in vehicles (claimed), and as a panel, preferably headliner in land, sea and air vehicles, preferably automobiles. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The adhesive used in the preparing composite parts exhibits good storage stability and free of tin-organic compounds, hence nontoxic. The method provides composite parts with excellent mechanical properties. #CMT#INORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Components: The alkaline, aqueous alkali metal solution: is substantially free of silicate; and has a pH value of at least 10. The alkali metal is sodium and/or potassium. #CMT#POLYMERS : #/CMT# Preferred Method: In the method, beside the aqueous alkali metal solution, no further catalysts are used for curing the adhesive. The adhering step takes place at 60-180[deg] C. Preferred Components: On the thermoformable polyurethane foam 10-150 g/m 2>of the alkaline, aqueous alkali metal solution is applied and 20-300 g/m 2>of adhesive is applied. The moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive comprises at least 80 wt.% of isocyanate-prepolymer, which is obtained by mixing a stoichiometric excess amount of aryl isocyanate with polymeric compounds having at least two reactive groups against isocyanates, optionally compounds having only one reactive group against isocyanates, optionally chain extenders and/or crosslinking agent. The isocyanate-terminated prepolymer has an isocyanate content of 5-30 wt.%. |
