The present invention relates to an internet search engine and, more specifically, to a method for conveniently changing a ranking calculation formula for calculating a ranking of a search result with respect to an inputted search word and an apparatus for performing the same. The search engine related to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a matching module for searching at least one web document related to the search word inputted from a user terminal and calculating at least one ranking element value for each of the searched at least one web document; a scripting engine for, if receiving the at least one ranking element value calculated for each of the searched web documents according to a first protocol, generating ranking information for each of the searched at least one web document according to the received at least one ranking element value and a first ranking calculation formula; and a ranking module for, if receiving the generated ranking information according to a second protocol, arranging the searched at least one web document according to the ranking information. The matching module and the ranking module are implemented via a first programming language and the scripting engine is implemented via a second programming language which does not require type definitions and compilation.
