System (1) for driving at least one compressor (5), comprising: - an input (2) able to be connected to a belt (3) secured to a rotary machine, - an output (4) able to be connected to the compressor (5), - an epicyclic gear train (7) the annulus gear (11) of which forms a flywheel and the sun gear (8) of which is connected to the output (4) of the system (1), and - a device (15) allowing the configuration of the epicyclic gear train (7) to be modified so that this gear train selectively adopts at least the following configurations: - (i) a configuration in which the epicyclic gear train (7) is coupled to the input (2) of the system (1), - (ii) a configuration in which the epicyclic gear train (7) has no internal degree of freedom and in which the epicyclic gear train (7) is uncoupled from the input (2) of the system (1).
