摘要 Disclosed are an apparatus for measuring the cardiorespiratory functional capacity using a treadmill, and a method thereof, which are able to measure the maximal oxygen uptake and the maximal heart rate, which are indicators showing the cardiorespiratory functional capacity, in the state that an exerciser is not exhausted by providing an appropriate intensity of an exercising load to the exerciser without expensive equipment. The apparatus for measuring the cardiorespiratory functional capacity comprises an input unit inputting information about the sex, weight and height, and exercise method of an exerciser; a treadmill driving information operation unit calculating the speed and gradient of a treadmill corresponding to each different exercise load preset upon multiple exercise levels, according to the information about the sex and weight, and exercise method of the exerciser; a treadmill driving unit driving the treadmill according to the speed and the gradient calculated in the treadmill driving information operation unit, and the exercise method; a heart rate sensor detecting the heart rate of the exerciser at each of the multiple exercise levels; and a cardiorespiratory functional capacity operation unit calculating the maximal oxygen uptake and the maximal heart rate of the exerciser according to the heart rate detected at each of the multiple exercise levels, and the sex, weight and height, and exercise method of the exerciser.
