1. A system for tracking vehicles wherein each vehicle transmits an identifying signal, the system comprising:
a. a first transmission link to a constellation of low earth orbit satellites, wherein each satellite is equipped with a radio receiver tuned to select transmission frequencies associated with the signals of said vehicles; b. a second transmission link to a network of separately located ground stations in communication with said constellation of satellites wherein the transmission link delivers data collected from said vehicle transmissions; c. a computer processor receiving input from said first and second transmission links and programmed to:
acquire and track vehicle position in near real time based on identifying signals transmitted by said vehicle; andresolve collisions between multiple sampled signals based on multiple receiver inputs; and d. an output device to deliver tracking data and warnings relating thereto to one or more system administrators. |
