[Problem] To provide a structure such that separation of inner and outer columns (14a, 15a) in an axial direction can be prevented without increasing the number of components and in an assembled state for assembly to a vehicle body. [Solution] An upper part of a front portion of the outer column (15a) is provided with an axially extended engaging slot (26). An upper part of a rear portion of the inner column (14a) is integrally formed with an engaging piece (28), and the engaging piece (28) is advanced into the engaging slot (26) in such a manner as to be displaceable along the engaging slot (26). When assembled to the vehicle body, relative displacement of the inner and outer columns (14a, 15a) within a telescopic adjustment range is permitted on the basis of displacement of the engaging piece (28) along the engaging slot (26). Prior to being assembled to the vehicle body, separation of the inner and outer columns (14a, 15a) in the axial direction is prevented on the basis of an engagement between the engaging piece (28) and a front edge of the engaging slot (26). |
