PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyarylene sulfide resin, with which a polyarylene sulfide resin with a low content of metal ions is obtained without acid addition and with purification within a short period of time, and which includes a purification step of polyarylene sulfide.SOLUTION: A method for producing a polyarylene sulfide resin comprises: a step 1 of making a polyhaloaromatic compound and an alkali metal sulfide, or an alkali metal hydrosulfide and an alkali metal hydroxide, react with each other in an organic polar solvent so as to obtain a crude reaction mixture including a polyarylene sulfide resin and the alkali metal hydrosulfide; a step 2 of obtaining a reaction mixture including the polyarylene sulfide resin and at least one selected from the alkali metal hydrosulfide, a sulfur atom and an allotrope thereof, an alkali metal thiosulfate, and an alkali metal sulfate by separating the solvent from the crude reaction mixture by solid-liquid separation while bringing the crude reaction mixture and an oxidative gas into contact with each other; and a step 3 of bringing the obtained reaction mixture into contact with water. |
