An apparatus for laser transmission welding of at least one self-contained weld seam between an open receptacle, which is formed by a wall structure having end faces and inner and outer wall surfaces, wherein the wall structure encloses at least one cavity with a cross-sectional area, and a sheet which covers the end faces and accordingly closes the receptacle, comprising a laser radiation source having a plurality of individually controllable laser emitters which are arranged in X direction in a linear array, a holder which is configured to position the receptacle in the X direction, the Z direction and a Y direction facing a laser radiation which is directed to the holder in a Z direction and which proceeds from the laser radiation source, wherein the X direction, the Y direction and the Z direction extend in perpendicular relationship to one another, a movement device for the relative movement of the laser radiation source in the Y direction, a storage-and-control unit for spatially resolved actuation of the laser emitters, and at least one pressing unit which is arranged downstream of the laser radiation source in radiating direction and which is fastened to a carrier plate which is oriented perpendicular to the laser radiation and is transparent to the laser radiation , which pressing unit has at least one pressing body with a terminating surface which is aligned parallel to the end faces, wherein the terminating surface of the at least one pressing body is smaller than the at least one cross-sectional area by at least twice the amount of a sheet thickness so that at least one gap corresponding to the sheet thickness remains between the pressing body and the wall structure, and the at least one pressing body is movable opposite the holder relatively in Z direction such that the terminating surface of the at least one pressing body can be lowered into the receptacle below the end faces of the wall structure so that sheet placed on the end faces can also contact the inner wall surfaces in an edge region adjoining the end faces and is therefore also welded at this edge region with the inner wall surfaces so that the weld seam can be welded with a weld seam width that is greater than an end face width. |
