The present invention relates to a friction transmission belt provided with: an extensible layer which forms a belt back surface; a compressive layer which is formed on one surface of the extensible layer and at least a portion of which has a transmission surface capable of coming into contact with a pulley; and a core wire which is buried along a belt longitudinal direction between the extensible layer and the compressive layer, at least the compressive layer is composed of a rubber composition containing a polymer component, short fibers, and a surface active agent, and the short fibers include short fibers that are at least water-absorbent fibers. |
