Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method and an apparatus for waking up a device, relates to the field of communications, thereby improving the user experience in a process of waking up the device. The specific solution comprises: when time of a timer is equal to a preset threshold, a first device detecting whether a second device sends a radio signal, the first device being a device woken up by the second device; when the first device detects the radio signal, the first device sending a first message to the second device, so that the second device switches into a station (STA) mode after the second device receives the first message, the first message being used for notifying the second device that the first device is successfully woken up; the first device switching into an access point (AP) mode, so that the second device has access to wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) by using the first device; and when the first device fails to detect the radio signal, the first device turning off Wi-Fi, and restarting the timer. The present invention is used in a process of waking up a device. |
