When a bus bar current detected by a bus bar current detector (11) exceeds a current cutoff value, an overcurrent detector (12) outputs an open signal for turning off switching elements (5 - 10) to a gate driver (14) to cut off the energization of a motor (1). Further, if the overcurrent detector (12) detects an overcurrent, a feedback controller (15) outputs a short-circuit brake instruction for the gate driver (14) to operate a short-circuit brake after energization cutoff, and resumes PWM control from the short-circuit braking state and the state where a duty ratio command value is reset to zero.
