A process is described for vaporizing a liquid, especially liquefied natural gas, against the working medium mixture circulating in a Rankine circuit, in which a) the working medium mixture is condensed against the liquid to be vaporized, b) undergoes a pressure increase, c) is heated slightly against at least one external medium and d) is decompressed to perform work. According to the invention, a working medium mixture which is permanently in monophasic form during process steps b), c) and d) and consists of two component groups is used, the first component group comprising the substances CH4, C2H4 and/or C2H6, and the second component group the substances C3H6, C3H8, i-C4H10, n-C4H10, i-C5H12 and/or n-C5H12, and mixture consisting to an extent of at least 50 mol%, preferably to an extent of at least 55 mol%, of substances from the first component group, and the operating points for the process being selected such that a distance of at least 3 bar and at least 5°C, preferably a distance of at least 5 bar and at least 10°C, is present between the boiling line and operating line and between the tau line and the operating line. |
