A turntable apparatus for a vehicle, comprising a turntable rotatable to a first position such that the vehicle can mount a deck of the turntable by being forwardly driven thereunto and to a second position such that the vehicle can dismount the deck by being forwardly driven there from. The apparatus further comprising a first barrier moveable between an inoperative condition in which it permits the forward driving of the vehicle onto the deck and an operative condition in which it precludes reversing of the vehicle off the deck and a second barrier moveable between an inoperative condition in which it permits the forward driving of the vehicle off the deck and an operative condition in which it precludes the forward driving of the vehicle off the deck. The barriers being configured for automated operation by a control system. The apparatus further including a signaling system operably associated with the control system and configured to output indications of operational states of the apparatus to the vehicle operator.
