PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sodium tungstate aqueous solution, with which a sodium tungstate aqueous solution of high purity can be produced.SOLUTION: A method for producing a sodium tungstate aqueous solution comprises: a step of making an oxidizing agent made of at least one of sodium nitrate or sodium nitrite and a tungsten containing material react with each other by heating at least one of the oxidizing agent and the tungsten containing material, and of charging a reducing agent into a molten liquid including the obtained reaction product; and a step of dissolving the molten liquid in water subsequent to charging of the reducing agent.
