PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic core having excellent strength and a coil type electronic component.SOLUTION: A magnetic core includes a core part constituted of a soft magnetic material composition, and a coating layer formed on at least a part of the surface of the core part. The soft magnetic material composition includes a plurality of soft magnetic alloy particles and a grain boundary 30 present between the soft magnetic alloy particles 21. The soft magnetic alloy particle 21 is an Fe-Si-Al alloy particle or Fe-Si-Cr alloy particle and there is a layer containing Si in the grain boundary 30.
