PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a conventional protector of an escalator tends to cause an accident such as collision of a human body because of difficulty of presence recognition of the protector due to a simple shape and being a combination of a transparent plate body and cylindrical body, and the conventional protector of the escalator has a problem of bonding strength such that the plate body is easily broken (damaged) and the cylindrical body is separated to fall.SOLUTION: A protector 3 of an escalator includes a substantially triangular plate body 3C of a few millimeters thickness as a main component and is provided in a wedge-shaped space Q formed between an outer edge of a handrail 1B and a solid body 2 such as a building ceiling that is adjacent to the handrail 1B so as to have a horizontal gap m between the handrail 1B and the solid body 2. Material of the plate body 3C is a transparent plate of a polyethylene terephthalate resin. A cylindrical body 3D is provided that sandwiches a front edge part 3CC to cover along an overall height of the plate body 3C. The protector 3 also includes: a metal connector 3F having a shape for connecting respective upper end parts 3A and 3DD of the plate body 3C and the cylindrical body 3D; and screws 3a and 3b for fixing the plate body 3C and the cylindrical body 3D respectively.
