<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which suppresses air resistance due to a rim protection bar while keeping rim flange protective performance with a rim protection bar and allows improvement of fuel consumption performance.SOLUTION: In a pneumatic tire, the protrusion height h of a rim protection bar 9 which protrudes outward, in the tire width direction, from the maximum width position 10 of a carcass line is 6-11 mm, and the contour line of the rim protection bar 9 in the meridian cross section has a shape of a plurality of circular arcs with different curvature radiuses connected smoothly and continuously. The circular arcs are connected to the contour line of the outer wall surface of a side wall part 2 and consist of two outer arcs R1 and R2 whose centers of curvature are position outside the tire and a plurality of inner arcs R3, R4 and R5 which are arranged between the two outer arcs R1 and R2 and whose centers of curvature are positioned inside the tire. The radiuses of curvature of the inner arcs R3, R4 and R5 increase gradually from the tread part 1 toward the bead part 3.</p> |
