Provided herein is method for controlling a rodent. The method comprises contacting the rodent with a compound which is a ligand for an olfactory trace amine associated receptor (TAAR) or a composition comprising such a molecule. The compound can be a biogenic amine.

A method for controlling a rodent, comprising contacting a rodent with a composition comprising 2-phenylethylamine, N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine, 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, N,N-dimethylphenylethylamine, isoamylamine, N,N-dimethyloctylamine, N,N-dimethylbutylamine, 1-methylpiperidine, a derivative, or an analogue thereof.
