PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt device which prevents detection means from failing to detect a lateral end position of a belt member properly due to warpage or deflection of the belt member, thereby properly correcting skew of the belt member, and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A belt device includes: detection means 80 arranged in a position corresponding to a lateral end of a belt member 8 to detect a lateral end position of the belt member 8; and correction means for varying inclination of a rotation shaft of a roller member on the basis of a detection result of the detection means 80 to correct skew of the belt member 8. A stopper member 88 is arranged in a non-image area, which is a position corresponding to the lateral end of the belt member 8 and near the detection means 80, to push-stop warpage or deflection of the belt member 8. |
